With sales of Vancouver Canucks merchandise down dramatically, retailers say an unusual -- and ugly -- clothing item may make the save of the season.

John Czvelka of Vancity Sports said while jersey sales in his store are down 70 per cent, the $69 ugly sweater honouring the West Coast team is flying off the shelves.

He’s sold 400 of the blue and green monstrosities in the past three weeks alone, and warns that they may sell out well before the actual December holiday.

The store is only receiving one more shipment, expected to arrive in two weeks.

“This is it. Once we sell out … there won't be any more coming in,” he told CTV News.

“Getting inventory is getting tougher and tougher.”

There’s a design for each team in the NHL.
