As more than 250 fires burn across B.C., thousands of people are posting messages of thanks to firefighters on a site set up by the provincial government.

The website, Messages for our Firefighters, was created “for you to let our brave firefighters know you support their efforts.”

Here are some of the messages people have posted in recent days:

Vivian: My deepest gratitude to all of you for the hard and dangerous work you do. I'm sure your families are so proud of you and so worried for you as well. Stay safe.

Heather: Thank you, thank you, thank you, for your bravery, stamina, passion, and dedication towards our forests. You are sacrificing much and I sincerely appreciate what you are doing.God bless each and every one of you.

Mark Galloway: I would like to thank all the men and women including my son Cody for doing what they love to do, keeping the fires at bay is their passion. Please report anyone flicking their butts out the windows.

Trinity: Because of your quick action and dedication to your craft, my house remains standing and my family and I have a home. My father was a firefighter and I know the commitment and sacfrifice it takes to do your job. I am so grateful that you all put your lives on the line every day to ensure that people like me have a place to call home. Be safe.

Gloria & John Czegledi: Our heartfelt thanks and gratitude go out to all the firefighters and first responders! Living in a rural area is wonderful and sometimes cause for concern.We were evacuated from huckleberry Road in Kelowna and we credit all those involved with saving our home.Thank you is not enough but we will 'never' forget your diligence , commitment and hard work!
