A 28-year-old woman was shot in the leg in a Surrey trailer park Sunday morning.

According to Surrey RCMP, the woman was shot just after 3:30 a.m. in the 8200 block of King George Boulevard near Bear Creek Park.

Police said the victim was in the parking lot of a nearby convenience store when a dark-coloured SUV drove up. The woman got into a ‘verbal exchange’ with the people in the car and the car followed the woman as she walked to the trailer park.

There the argument continued and one of the people in the car shot the woman in the lower leg before driving away.

The woman was treated at the hospital for a single non life-threatening gunshot wound.

Police said the motive for the shooting is unknown though it does not seem to be random.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers.
