A 45-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a vicious attack on a lesbian couple in East Vancouver earlier this year.

Police confirm the suspect, a Burnaby resident, was taken into custody then released from custody on a promise to appear in court. Charges have not yet been laid.

The victims were attacked on Commercial Drive near Hastings Street on Sept. 7 after an unknown man followed them off a TransLink bus.

Investigators because the assailant became disturbed when he saw the couple exchange a kiss onboard.

One of the victims told CTV News the attacker yelled that they were “sluts” while punching their heads.
