The RCMP is investigating allegations that a group of Surrey teenagers exchanged explicit photos of girls from their school.

The school district confirmed a dozen seniors from Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary School, both boys and girls, have been disciplined in connection with the alleged image sharing.

The punishments range in severity from in-school actions to suspensions, district spokesman Doug Strachan said.

Surrey RCMP Cpl. Bert Paquet said Mounties received word about the nude photos on April 14, and officers from the Youth Section have been investigating since.

The probe is still in its early stages, he added.

“We’re still trying to establish exactly the timeline of when pictures were taken and when they began to be circulated,” Paquet said.

“At this point in time we’re not talking about criminal charges.”

The RCMP said the photos were exchanged electronically, but couldn’t say whether it was via cell phones, social media, or some other platform.

Strachan said the school district couldn’t reveal any more details due to privacy concerns.
