The man found fatally injured outside a Surrey apartment complex Monday has been identified as a 33-year-old who was known to police.

Shaunce Poirier was near-dead when officers located him in the Whalley neighbourhood around 2:15 p.m. Paramedics performed CPR at the scene but the Surrey resident succumbed to his injuries.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has not released the cause of death but said Poirier’s killing was not random.

“We are continuing our investigation into this murder,” Sgt. Bari Emam said in a statement. “There are no further details available to the public at this time.”

Police are asking any potential witnesses who were in the area of 108th Avenue and 132nd Street on Monday afternoon to come forward and assist in their investigation.
