Ships to Shore King of the Sea

The Kaiwo Maru (which translates as King of the Sea) is one of the world’s largest tall ships - a majestic, four-masted sailing ship that is 361 feet long and 182 feet. High, During a rare North American visit the King of the Sea will be available for free public boarding and viewing. And watch for the special sail drill, when 200 crew members will climb high into the masts to ceremonially unfurl nearly 30,000 square feet of sail.

Presented by Re/Max, Ships to Shore King of the Sea also includes free main stage concerts on May 5 and 6 headlined by Alan Doyle and the Beautiful Gypsies and Vancouver’s own Juno Award-winning Dear Rouge. A spectacular Saturday night waterfront fireworks show, food trunks, festival entertainment throughout the site including buskers, pop up demonstrations and hands-on activities; maritime-themed Kids Cove, community art installations, marketplace and displays are also part of the fun.
