A Surrey senior has died after the four-wheeled mobility scooter she was riding was hit by a van on Sunday night.

The accident happened around 8 p.m. at 96th Avenue and King George Boulevard.

It’s believed the driver was turning left on a green light and the scooter was in the crosswalk when it was hit.

The unnamed victim, 75, was transported to Surrey Memorial Hospital where she died from her injuries.

RCMP says the driver, who stayed at the scene, likely didn’t see the scooter, and the incident is being treated as an accident.

A stretch of King George Boulevard was closed overnight as police investigated.
