Vancouver Island’s latest lotto multi-millionaire says his first order of business is to shun the rain with a sunny Hawaiian vacation.

Morgan Harker won the $25 million Lotto Max draw on Nov. 1, but gave himself time to process the life-changing win before coming forward to collect the prize Friday.

The Saanich father-of-two told reporters he learned about his lucky quick-pick ticket during a swim at a local pool.

“My wife texted me and said we won $25 million. I can’t say what was my response was back,” Harker joked.

“I was pretty calm, went home and saw the ticket for myself and sure enough, seven numbers.”

His full prize came to $25,000,001, including a $1 bonus he pulled by saying yes to the Extra.

Apart from taking the Hawaiian vacation he and his wife have always dreamed of, Harker said one of the first things that popped into his head was replacing his ripped couch.

“It needs some serious help,” he said.

Harker said he’s played the lotto almost every week for the last decade. He picked up his winning ticket at a station in the Bay Centre.

Earlier this month, Revelstoke senior Peter Mueller took home $20 million in the Lotto 6/49.

The 68-year-old also said he plans to escape the B.C. winter, by taking off for Mexico.
