The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will spend the majority of their upcoming Canadian tour in British Columbia.

New details of their trip were released by Kensington Palace Monday morning, confirming the stops during their trip from September 24 to October 1.

Prince William and his wife Kate will visit Vancouver, Victoria, Bella Bella, Haida Gwaii and Kelowna while they're in B.C.

The couple will also visit Whitehorse and Carcross in the Yukon.

“We’re very excited to have the Duke and Duchess in the country,” Melanie Joly, the minister of Canadian heritage, told reporters in Sudbury, Ont. on Monday.

“It’ll be a great trip in B.C. and the Yukon and I look forward to meeting them.”

Heritage Canada says an official welcome to Canada and B.C. will be held September 24 in Victoria.

Reports have indicated the royals will travel with their young children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, but there has been no official confirmation.

Heritage Canada released this itinerary of the eight-day visit:

  • Sept. 24: Victoria, B.C.
  • Sept. 25: Vancouver, B.C.
  • Sept. 26: Bella Bella, B.C.
  • Sept. 27: Victoria and Kelowna, B.C.; Whitehorse, Yukon
  • Sept. 28: Whitehorse and Carcross, Yukon
  • Sept. 29: Victoria, B.C.

Their Royal Highnesses will take part in events and activities that highlight the work Canadians are doing to preserve the environment, improve mental health, encourage active living and highlight Indigenous culture and heritage, according to Heritage Canada.

This is the royal couple's second visit together to Canada. Their 2011 trip after their wedding brought them to Calgary, Yellowknife, Summerside, Charlottetown, Quebec City, Ottawa and Montreal.

They also visited Slave Lake, which had recently been ravaged by a forest fire.

Prince William visited B.C. on a private/working visit in 1998, when he joined his father Prince Charles and his brother Prince Harry on a skiing vacation in Whistler.
