An Okanagan orchardist may hold the new title for largest peach ever grown.

Robert Hogue grew peaches bigger than softballs this year in his Kelowna orchard, which he credits to warm weather as the trees blossomed.

And one tree produced possibly the largest peach ever seen. Weighing in at 810 grams (almost two pounds), a peach picked Saturday shatters the previous record of 725 grams.

The peach was officially weighed at the University of British Columbia's Okanagan campus on Monday, before pieces were doled out to those in attendance.

"I have nothing pithy to say, it's a really big peach," botanist Bob LeLande told CTV.

The prized peach will be added to Guinness's other world records, including hottest chilli, largest samosa and most expensive hamburger.

Guinness's food-related records also include most ice cream scoops thrown and caught in one minute by a team of two, most juice extracted from grapes by treating in two minutes, and the largest bubblegum bubble ever blown.
