Premier Clark suggested she had tried marijuana during her high school days at a media scrum in Victoria Tuesday.

When a reporter asked the B.C. politician if she had "ever partaken in the weed," Clark responded with a smile while recounting her time at Burnaby South Senior Secondary in the 1980s.

"There was a lot of that going on when I was in high school, and I didn't avoid it altogether," she said.

Clark then explained her hesitance in answering directly.

"Why I'm reluctant to answering the question is because when you grow up and you leave your childhood aside, and you want to be a good role model for your kids, those aren't great questions to have to answer," she said.
