Port Coquitlam is mulling Canada's first-ever bylaw against bullying.
The Vancouver suburb has joined an initiative that calls for fines imposed on bullies, if the perpetrators don't take part in remedial programs.
The bylaw and several other initiatives are part of the "Be Someone" campaign created by Port Coquitlam businessman Gary Mauris.
He says the program will unite youth, parents, schools, police, business and government in the battle to stamp out bullying in the community where 15-year-old Amanda Todd lived before taking her own life after enduring years of online and school-yard abuse.
