Vancouver police are searching for suspects after a young woman was accosted and groped on the Burrard Street Bridge early Sunday morning.

The 23-year-old victim was walking across the bridge around 2:45 a.m. when two men started shouting profanities at her from the other side.

Sgt. Randy Fincham said the men crossed concrete barricades and five lanes of traffic to reach her, then one of them pushed her against a railing.

“When she was held up against the railing, one of the men groped her,” Fincham said. “She was able to fight him off and then she ran off the bridge.”

The victim managed to find a taxi nearby, where she phoned the police.

There are a number of surveillance cameras in the area, and investigators have already obtained footage they hope will help identify the attackers.

Fincham said police are also already speaking to a number of witnesses.

“We do encourage the men to come forward before we find them,” he said.

The first suspect is described as a South Asian man in his mid-30s, 6’ tall with a skinny build. He had short brown hair, brown eyes and was clean shaven.

The second suspect is also described as South Asian, but in his early 30s. standing 5’7” with a thin build. He had short brown hair, brown eyes and was clean shaven.
