Maple Ridge RCMP are investigating an attempted child luring after a stranger approached a girl on her way to school.

The 13-year-old girl was waiting for the school bus at 272nd Street and 104 Avenue last Friday morning when a small black car stopped near her.

The male driver started speaking to the girl and asked if she wanted a ride to school.

The school district said he didn't make any attempt to touch or grab the girl and drove off when she told him she didn't want to get into his car.

Parents were notified about the incident by email.

The incident comes as Vancouver police search for a woman suspected of trying to lure a child at Melbourne park over the weekend.
