Police have arrested three people, including a minor, in connection with a Jan. 30 stabbing near a New Westminster adult learning centre.

Muzaffer Darwaish, 25, and Zahir Darwaish, 23, both of Richmond, were charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

A third person, who is a youth and cannot legally be named, was charged with aggravated assault.

The three are accused in a stabbing that took place in the early afternoon near 10th and Columbia streets. After the incident, blood could be seen on a chair in the entryway of the Columbia Square Adult Learning Centre.

The victim was rushed to hospital, where he was treated for serious injuries and later released, police said.

Police did not release the victim’s identity.

The New Westminster Police Department’s major crime unit led the investigation, which led to the arrests on Tuesday.

All three suspects remain in custody while awaiting their next court appearance, the date of which has not been set.
