Police on Vancouver Island have arrested a 22-year-old Victoria man in connection with a shooting that left a man in serious condition Tuesday evening.

West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a shooting at a home in the 2600-block of Sooke Road in Langford at around 8:30 p.m.

When they arrived, they found a man with gunshot wounds inside the residence.

The injured 38-year-old man was transported to hospital, where he remains in serious condition.

At around 10 a.m. Wednesday, Saanich police tracked down the suspect to the 3200-block of Quadra Street, where he was arrested without incident.

Police also arrested a 21-year-old man who faces a charge of being an accessory after the fact.

Police have not confirmed the identities of either suspect pending charge approval by Crown.

Sooke Road was closed between Happy Valley Road and Jacklin Road during the initial investigation. It has since reopened.
