Three women were arrested over the weekend for allegedly trying to block the entrance to a hearing on Kinder Morgan’s proposed Trans Mountain pipeline expansion.

The RCMP said the women showed up at the Delta Burnaby Hotel and Conference Centre, where the National Energy Board is holding hearings on the controversial proposal, on Saturday and sat down in front of the entrance.

They also allegedly tried to gain access to the hearing.

Officers arrested the women and took them to the Burnaby RCMP detachment, where they were later released on a promise to appear in court.

The women are facing charges of mischief, according to Mounties.

Hundreds of protesters rallied outside the hearings over the weekend, calling on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to fix what they believe are serious flaws in the review process.

No other police incidents were reported.
