A public health warning has been issued over an unlicensed dental clinic operating in Surrey.
Fraser Health says patients treated by Mr. Valentyn Uvarov are at risk of hepatitis B, C and HIV, as well as blood-borne infections.
The agency says people receiving treatment at the clinic at 14275 62nd Avenue may have been exposed to non-sterile materials.
An investigation by the College of Dental Surgeons of B.C. learned that Dr. Uvarov was operating without a valid license to practice dentistry.
“[The] investigation identified concerning infection prevention and control practices, including the potential re-use of anesthetic containers. Fraser Health believes that this may pose a risk of infectious disease transmission to clients,” the warning from Fraser Health reads.
Anyone who has received treatment is advised to see a doctor or call 811 to address any health concerns.
