CTV News has obtained shocking surveillance footage showing the moment a man was fatally struck in a hit-and-run in Surrey Thursday morning.

Mounties are now appealing to the public for information in the aftermath of the deadly incident.

A delivery driver reportedly found a seriously injured man on the side of the road in the 11400-block of Bridgeview Drive at around 3:30 a.m.

The victim, a man in his 30s or 40s, was rushed to hospital in critical condition, but later succumbed to his injuries, police said.

Police said he was pushing a grocery cart northbound when he was struck from behind by a semi-truck.

Surveillance footage obtained from Central City Brewing Company, which has an exterior camera mounted to its building, appears to show the man pushing a grocery cart on a well-lit shoulder of the road.

What appears to be a semi-truck then appears behind him, striking him from behind before disappearing from frame.

The man and his belongings are then seen strewn about the road in the truck's wake.

Several vehicles can be seen driving in the southbound lane of Bridgeview Drive.

Police are investigating the video and said they have contacted TransX, the trucking company associated with the suspect vehicle.

When contacted by CTV News, the company said it is fully cooperating with police and is trying to track down the driver.

Surrey RCMP and the BC Coroner’s Service are working to determine the victim’s identity.

Anyone with information is asked to call Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
