Mounties are investigating a fatal fire that broke out in a motorhome Friday morning in Surrey.

The RCMP said neighbours saw smoke coming from the home around 7:30 a.m. and tried to get inside, but couldn’t.

By the time officers and firefighters arrived, the motorhome was completely engulfed in flames. When the fire was extinguished, crews found one person dead inside.

The deceased’s identity hasn’t been confirmed.

The Surrey RCMP General Investigation Unit, Surrey Fire Department, and BC Coroners Service are all investigating the blaze, but Mounties said there’s no early indication of foul play.

Anyone with information on the blaze is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP detachment at 604-599-0502, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS to remain anonymous.
