PORTLAND, Ore. - Jay Nolly was solid in net as the Vancouver Whitecaps held off the Portland Timbers for a 0-0 draw in USSF Division 2 play Saturday.
The Vancouver (6-2-7) goalkeeper made a number of key saves against a charged Portland (5-5-5) offence that fired 20 shots, seven of which were on target.
In the 57th minute, Nolly tipped Mandjou Keita's goal-bound header over the net.
He was in form again in injury time with a save off Portland substitute Bright Dike.
Whitecaps defender Wes Knight needed to be taken off the pitch on a stretcher with a bad cut to his head after challenging for the ball.
