The motorcycle rider who apparently lost control of his bike and crashed onto an off-ramp on the Trans-Canada Highway in North Vancouver has died.

The man was thrown over a concrete barrier and hit by an oncoming vehicle after being thrown from his bike while getting off the highway at Lillooet Road around 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The 32-year-old Vancouverite was rushed to Lion's Gate Hospital, where he had surgery. On Friday morning, RCMP said the man died as a result of his extensive injuries.

The driver who hit the biker was uninjured and stayed at the scene, according to North Vancouver RCMP.

Mounties believe speed is a factor in the incident and its collision analysis service is trying to determine what happened.
