The body of a young man has been recovered from a pond in Richmond, RCMP confirmed.

Mounties found the body in the partly frozen waters just south of Garden City Park in the 9200-block of Granville Avenue on the afternoon of Dec. 31.

The death is not being considered suspicious at this time, police say.

Officers have not confirmed if there is a connection between the body and a Toronto man who has been missing for nearly a week.

The RCMP said Ephraigm Flores was last seen returning from an electronic music event in Vancouver late at night on Boxing Day.

The 23-year-old was spotted in neighbouring Richmond, in the area of Garden City Road and Granville Avenue, around 11:15 p.m., but hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

Police say no further details about the identity of the deceased will be released at this time.
