Tens of thousands of people are expected to lace up for the Vancouver Sun Run on Sunday, and TransLink is beefing up service to help people get to where they need to be.

The transit agency announced it would increase bus, train and SkyTrain service for the event, which kicks off on Georgia Street at around 8:30 a.m.

  • The West Coast Express will run a special Sun Run train, departing from Mission at 7 a.m. and pulling into Waterfront Station at 8:15 a.m.
  • Expo and Millenium line trains will kick off service earlier, with first trains leaving King George Station in Surrey at 6:38 a.m. and Lougheed Station at 6:45 a.m.
  • Canada Line service begins at 5:02 a.m.
  • All three lines will run more frequently than typical Sunday service, including extra trains before and after the run
  • West Vancouver buses will provide additional service from 25th and Marine Drive in the morning
  • SeaBus sailnigs will start early from Lonsdale at 7 a.m. and will run every 15 minutes until 2:45 p.m.
  • A bicycle valet, including temporary storage for up to 100 bikes, will be available at Gate C on the second level of BC Place near the finish line.

Road closures will also be in effect before and during the race, including Georgia Street, Bute Street (to the Stanley Park Causeway) and Denman Street from Georgia to Robson.

Beach Avenue will eb closed from Stanley Park to Hornby Street, and eastbound lanes of Pacific Street will be closed to traffic between Burrard and Hornby.

Burrard Bridge will be completely closed to traffic while Cambie Bridge will shut down all northbound traffic.
