The three young men sought by the Coquitlam RCMP in connection to the alleged arson of a cabin on Widgeon Creek turned themselves in Monday night, just hours after police released their photos to the press.

Police did not release the names of the men because of the possibility of criminal charges in the case. They did, however, thank the media for helping to identify the suspects.

Photos of the three men provided by the police were posted on the CTV Vancouver Facebook page Monday afternoon and had been shared more than 3,000 times as of Tuesday afternoon.

The photos came from wildlife cameras installed on the property by its owners. Police said their investigation would never have gotten as far as it has without the high-resolution photographs the cameras produced.

The cabin was destroyed in a fire on the night of July 7. Police told CTV News on Monday that they believed the three suspects had attempted to break into the building, but were unable to do so. They then allegedly lit the cabin on fire.

Built as a duck hunting cabin in 1955, the building had become a family vacation spot. Co-owner Dave Clarke told CTV News on Monday that the destruction of the building was “a huge loss.”
