Another late night drive-by shooting in Surrey has RCMP searching for witnesses.

Mounties say several 911 callers reported hearing multiple shots fired in the area of 65th Avenue at 121st Street at around 11:15 p.m. Friday.

Witnesses at the scene said they saw vehicles speeding away from the area described as a small, newer model grey import car and a dark-coloured sedan.

Police say nothing at the scene appeared to be struck by gunfire, but they found one shell casing a short distance from the intersection.

It's unclear whether the incident is linked to a spate of shootings in the Surrey and Delta area in recent weeks. The latest incident brings the total to 21 shootings in recent weeks.

On Tuesday, Mounties announced they have linked 11 of the shootings to a bloody rivalry between two groups they describe as being of Somali and South Asian descent.
