Twitter was ablaze after reports of a massive, bright green meteor was seen streaking across B.C.’s night skies.

The meteor was spotted at around 8:20 p.m. Saturday night, and hundreds of people who witnessed it quickly took to social media to share what they saw.

One fortunate witness had his GoPro camera recording when the meteor streaked across the sky for mere seconds.

According to the video description on Roger Ting’s YouTube page, he was trying to capture the Northern Lights but wound up recording the meteor flash instead.

There were sightings as far east as the Okanagan and several sightings on Vancouver Island.

Other reports indicated the meteor was seen as far south as Portland, Ore.
