Vancouver police are investigating after a 14-year-old girl was reportedly followed by two men Thursday morning.

Around 8:40 a.m., the teenager says she noticed two men in a grey mini-van honking at her while she was walking in the area of 17th Avenue and Fraser Street.

The two men reportedly gestured for her to come in the van. When she ignored them, one of the men got out, called for her to get into the van, and began to follow her. The other man stayed inside the vehicle.

Police say the girl was frightened, and went into a coffee shop on Fraser Street for safety – but the man followed. He made no attempts to touch or grab the girl, and eventually left on his own.

Virginia Archie, who owns Bubbles and Beans Coffee House, told CTV News that after the man left, the girl spoke out.

“She told me, ‘oh my god, that guy that just left, he was insisting for me to get into his car,’” says Archie. “[I said] why didn't you tell me? Why didn't you complain, we can call the police.’ ‘I'm so scared’ is what she said.”

The girl was shaken, but not injured.

The suspect is described as white, 6-0, and around 50 to 55 years old with a medium to heavy build. He wore blue jeans, a black toque, and a dark hoodie under a green zip-up jacket.
