An Alaska Airlines plane bound for Seattle was forced to land at YVR Airport in Vancouver on Sunday afternoon, the airport confirmed.

Alaska Airlines flight 76 left Juneau at 1:47 p.m. and was due to arrive in Seattle at 5:45 p.m. There were 126 passengers aboard.

The Boeing 737-400 landed safely in Vancouver shortly after 4:45 p.m. Online flight trackers soon updated their information for the flight, suggesting it would depart YVR Airport at 5:25 p.m. and arrive in Seattle at 5:50 p.m.

YVR Airport directed questions about the reason for the landing to Alaska Airlines. The company told CTV News the landing was caused by a problem in one of the plane’s two electrical systems. In such cases, standard procedure is to divert to the nearest airport, the company said.

Despite reports online to the contrary, the plane will not be leaving anytime soon, the airline said. It said everyone on board is OK and technicians are now working on the plane to get it back in the air as soon as possible.
