A North Vancouver athlete has earned a pair of medals at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Gymnast Scott Morgan won gold in the rings competition Thursday night, just a few hours after he won silver in the floor event earlier in the day.

Canadian athletes finished 1-2 in the rings competition, with Kevin Lytwyn of Stoney Creek, Ont., taking silver. Daniel Purvis of Scotland won bronze.

The Glasgow games are not Morgan’s first taste of international competition. He qualified for the men’s floor final while participating in his first world gymnastics championships in 2013. He finished eighth overall.

Canada also won a silver medal in the women’s vault competition on Thursday. Ellie Black of Halifax finished second to England’s Claudia Fragapane. India’s Dipa Karmakar took the bronze.
