Alberta Mounties have apprehended a fugitive couple who led police on a tense chase through Metro Vancouver last week.

One of the suspects allegedly pulled a gun on patrolling police officers who found them sleeping in a car in New Westminster on Monday, sparking a manhunt through neighbouring Burnaby and Vancouver.

Their getaway car, a rented Buick Lacrosse, was involved in multiple hit-and-runs then ditched in the driveway of a random home later that day.

New Westminster investigators eventually identified two suspects, and they were tracked to Camrose, Alta. and arrested in the early morning hours of Sunday.

Their names and the potential criminal charges they’re facing haven’t been released.
