A Langley man accused of lighting a house on fire with his estranged wife and her two children inside has pleaded guilty.

Andre Harvey Richard appeared in Surrey provincial court on Monday and pleaded to two counts of aggravated assault and one count each of arson and breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offense.

Multiple attempted murder charges against him are expected to be stayed by the Crown.

Richard has been in custody since police arrested him in Fernie during a province-wide manhunt on April 4. One day earlier, his wife and her daughter were attacked with a mallet and their Langley home was set ablaze.

Her eight-year-old son was also home at the time but wasn’t hurt.

The victims managed to flee and left a trail of blood leading to a neighbour’s house.
