An early morning fire provided a panicked wake-up call, forcing a family of four and a basement tenant out of their home.

Fire crews were called to the two-storey home on Neville Street near Macpherson Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Friday.

"Crews arrived to find heavy fire near the back of the house and it quickly spread to the attic and roof," said Burnaby's Assistant Fire Chief Rick Weir. "Soon after we arrived we had a complete collapse on the rear of the house and the roof came down."

Everyone got out of the home without injury.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
