Emergency crews had to extract an injured woman from her car Monday after the vehicle collided with a train in Chilliwack.

Mounties said the crash took place at a railway crossing at Lickman Road, and left the woman trapped inside the car.

Officers, firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the scene and eventually managed to get the victim out of the vehicle so she could be transported to hospital.

She was taken away in serious condition, according to the B.C. Ambulance Service.

The cause of the crash hasn’t been determined.
