Update: The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Edmonton resident David Thanh Lam. IHIT says he has a criminal history dating back to 1998 and his death is linked to criminal activity.
Homicide investigators are hoping an autopsy will help provide clues after badly burned remains were found near Highway 1 in Langley Tuesday.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said the body was found just before 10:30 a.m. in the 24700-block of 64th Avenue and an early probe suggests it was murder.
The autopsy is scheduled for Thursday, and homicide investigators hope it will answer a number of questions including the identity of the victim.
