1. Tragic accident: A five-year-old girl suffered a serious head injury and was knocked unconscious by a falling tree in North Vancouver Monday. The kindergarten student was playing outside by her school when the tree fell down on a private property near Highlands Elementary. 

2. Watchdog called in: The Independent Investigations Office has been called in to investigate a “critical incident” that shut down the Pattullo Bridge for almost six hours on Monday.

3. Throwing down: Neil Young is backing up his stance on environmental issues with cold, hard cash. The rock legend has pledged $100,000 to a David Suzuki campaign aimed at pressuring the government to recognize environmental rights.

4. Woman sought: Police are investigating after a woman allegedly tried to lure a boy at Melbourne Park in East Vancouver over the weekend. The woman left the park after being confronted by another adult.

5. Not big fans: A new survey has found that both the B.C. and Alberta governments are at odds with the majority of residents when it comes to trophy hunting. An Insights West poll found 91 per cent of British Columbians and 84 per cent of Albertans condemn the practice.
