KAMLOOPS, B.C. - A family of four has been found after a rigorous backcountry search north of Kamloops, B.C.

Crews were scouring the rural McLure area by both ground and air on Monday morning.

Kamloops Search and Rescue manager Alan Hobler says the family including two children was believed to have gone offroading on Sunday.

He says they were expected home in Kamloops that afternoon but didn't return.

Hobler says the family is now home safely but doesn't have any details.

The search was launched after RCMP heard a single ping from a cellphone tower.
