A man in his 50s is facing charges after being stopped by police three times in one week.

Kelowna RCMP said the driver's white 2016 Hyundai Elantra was first pulled over on May 9. Police believed he was driving under the influence of alcohol, and said that he failed a breathalyzer test conducted on the side of the road.

At the time, he was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition, meaning his right to drive was suspended for the three-month period.

Four days later, the same driver was investigated for impaired driving, and provided breath samples that showed his blood-alcohol level was two times the legal limit, RCMP said.

Three days after that, on May 16, RCMP received a report of a suspected impaired driver seen at a gas station on Glenmore Road. An officer observed "signs and symptoms of obvious alcohol impairment," and took the driver into custody.

The driver was then given another breathalyzer, and police said his samples showed a blood-alcohol level of four times the limit.

The 53-year-old Kelowna man is facing several potential charges, including impaired operation of a motor vehicle and multiple counts of driving while prohibited.
