A 34-year-old man has been charged in a shocking stabbing spree in the Fraser Valley that put four people in hospital over the weekend, including two teenagers.

Four counts of aggravated assault were approved Monday afternoon against William Anton Butz, the Abbotsford Police Department said.

Officers were called to the 31400-block of Springhill Court on Saturday night with reports that a man was stabbing people with a knife.

Four victims were found suffering various injuries and taken to hospital. Three of them, a 19-year-old man, 35-year-old man and 37-year-old woman, have since been released.

An 18-year-old woman remains in stable and improving condition.

Police said the stabbings may be connected to a gathering at a basement suite in the neighbourhood. A suspect was located in the area and arrested on Saturday night.
