Police are searching for items stolen in a break-in last week, including a frame containing memorabilia from the Second World War.

The wooden frame was among several items stolen from a home in the 6300 block of 126th Street in Surrey, sometime between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on June 14.

The frame held medals, jewelry, photos and other sentimental items that belonged to the homeowner's deceased father.

"The collection, mounted and framed, has great sentimental value and cannot be replaced," RCMP said in a statement Friday.

The RCMP is appealing to the public, asking for whoever took the medals, or finds them, to return them to their owner.

"It's hard to imagine the heartache felt by this victim at having some of the last few memories of his father being stolen," Cpl. Scotty Schumann said in the statement.

"It defies logic as to why someone would even want to steal them given their value is purely sentimental. Hopefully the suspect will realize this and return the collection or someone will recognize it and help get it back to its rightful owner."

Anyone with more information on the theft or the items' whereabouts is asked to contact RCMP at 604-599-0502, or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
