Homicide investigators have been called to probe the death of a 54-year-old man who was found in medical distress outside a B.C. bar last weekend.

Mounties were called to the Cliffside Pub in Squamish early Sunday morning with a report of a disturbance, and found Clifton Mawer on the ground with a head injury.

Mawer, a Squamish resident, was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuring Monday evening.

IHIT confirmed it is investigating the death a homicide and looking to speak to any potential witnesses.

Anyone who was in or near the Cliffside Pub between 11 p.m. Saturday and 2 a.m. Sunday is asked to call the IHIT tip line at 1-877-551-4448.
