Highway 10 has reopened nearly six hours after a head-on collision in Surrey.

The crash occurred on a stretch of the highway just west of 182 Street, shortly before 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

It is not yet known what caused the minivan and motorcycle to collide, but the driver of the motorcycle was seriously injured. He was taken by ambulance to a clearing in the grass nearby, where he was transferred to an air ambulance and rushed to hospital.

No one in the minivan was injured, Surrey RCMP said.

The highway remained closed for hours as police investigated, but was reopened to traffic at approximately 4:30 p.m.
