KAMLOOPS, B.C. - A homicide investigation is underway in Kamloops, B.C., after the body of a man was found near a bridge in the southern Interior city.

Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Cheryl Bush says in a release, that the investigation is in its very early stages.

She says the body was spotted at about 7:45 Thursday evening, on a walking path under the north end of the Overlander Bridge.

Officers with the serious crimes unit spent much of the night at the scene, along with forensic identification specialists and the coroner.

Mounties would like to speak to anyone who may have been in the area between 5 p.m. and 7:45 on Thursday.

The victim's name, age or cause of death have not been released.
