A 39-year-old man is in the hospital with multiple injuries after being assaulted in Vancouver’s West End, said police.

Vancouver police spokesperson Const. Brian Montague said the homeless man was found bleeding from the head around 4 a.m. Thursday in the 1700-block of West Georgia Street.

Montague said the man may have been assaulted while he slept near the pedestrian walkway close to Lost Lagoon. He suffered multiple facial injuries and a fractured skull.

“The victim in this violent attack is part of a group that is some of the most vulnerable people in our society,” Montague said in a press release.

Police have not identified any suspects, and are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
