Students in Prince George are mourning the deaths of two teens who drowned after the vehicle they were in went into a lake at what was likely a prom after-party, according to posts on social media.

RCMP confirmed Sunday night that the bodies of a man and woman were pulled from a vehicle that ended up in Kwitzil Lake just after 4 a.m. Officials said the area around the lake was the site of a large party throughout the night which was attended by hundreds.

A newsletter posted online by Prince George high school DP Todd Secondary lists Saturday, May 17 as the date of the annual prom.

RCMP have not confirmed the victims' identities, but several friends have identified them on social media. A post from Karli May Lafon, who appears to live in Prince George, named Kendall Moore and Craig Wood as the victims.

"Kendall Moore - you were an amazing girl, a best friend to many people, someone we could all count on to bring a smile to our faces, a gorgeous girl with a very sweet heart, i cant believe your gone, you were taken from us waay to soon," the post reads.

On her Facebook page, Moore is listed as a student in the 2014 graduating class at DP Todd Secondary.

The high school also alluded to the incident in a tweet sent at around 3 p.m., telling followers to "breathe deep and take care." It also announced plans to offer counselling to students returning Tuesday after the May long weekend.
