The Surrey RCMP is searching for one of two vehicles involved in a suspected street race that ended with a car becoming wedged under a semi-truck Tuesday evening.

Emergency crews were called to 176th Street and 16th Avenue just before midnight after a speeding Honda Accord slammed into the side of a truck.

Police believe the Honda and another vehicle, a brown Toyota Camry, ran a red light and were speeding at the time of the crash. The second vehicle managed to get away.

It's believed the Camry involved in the incident managed to get away.

Four people in the Honda were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, including a head injury.

The truck driver was unharmed.

One person is being investigated for impaired driving, and police say alcohol was found inside the Honda.

The intersection was closed overnight but reopened around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
