The Kelowna man taken into custody after his 35-year-old fiancée was found dead in her home has now been charged with murder.

Mounties launched a manhunt for Ryan James Quigley shortly after officers found Amy Jane Parkes’ body in the 3700-block of Lakeshore Road on Tuesday.

Const. Kris Clark confirmed Quigley was located in his car and taken into custody without incident Thursday.

“He was arrested for murder in connection with this investigation,” Clark said.

Parkes was reported missing Tuesday after she failed to show up for work. Mounties haven’t revealed how she died but said an autopsy would be performed this week.

Neighbours told CTV News they were shocked by news of Parkes’ death. Randy Salter described the couple as “calm, quiet people.”

“She works every day and he was trying to look for a job, apparently. They were just struggling, that’s all I know,” Salter said.

Quigley is slated to make his first court appearance Friday.
