Mounties who pulled over a Ferrari that was zooming 181 kilometres per hour through Surrey last weekend were shocked to find a kid in the passenger seat.

The 2005 Ferrari F430 was stopped Saturday on 176th Street and 32nd Avenue, in an 80 kilometre per hour zone.

“Despite the driver’s extremely excessive speed, the real surprise for officers was when they saw a young child in the vehicle,” Cpl. Robert McDonald said in a statement.

“I don’t know how someone could put a child at risk like that.”

The same intersection saw five members of the same Delta family killed in a horrific crash nearly one year ago, on April 28, 2013.

The Ferrari driver, a 49-year-old Langley man, admitted to Mounties that he was aware of the area’s history.

He was issued a $483 ticket and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
