A woman died after being struck by a car early Friday morning in East Vancouver, marking the city's first pedestrian fatality of 2012.
Police say they received a call at around 3 a.m. that a woman was walking on the road in the 3100-block of East Hastings Street.
She was struck by a westbound car shortly after, and died at the scene.
The driver remained at the scene, and the Vancouver Police Department's Collision Investigation Unit does not believe speed or alcohol were factors.
The woman's name and age have not been released.
